I bought this for my HP laptop from Pro Ebiz LLC. After 2 weeks I noticed it started to melt and crack due to overheating. Pro Ebiz LLC sent me a new one from the SAME manufacturer, after I asked they either refund my money or send me a new one from a DIFFERENT manufacturer. And, to no surprise, the second one melted and died the same exact way as the first. And again, I wrote Pro Ebiz LLC to request a refund or that they send me a new one from a DIFFERENT manufacturer. And again they sent me yet one more, now my third, and it too met the exact same fate as the as the first two. Now they won't reply to my emails and genuine complaints. If you're needing a new AC Adapter, stay away from this one, and I also suggest to stay away from Pro Ebiz LLC.

I bought this charger from BestEZonlinestore. Within a few months it became EXTREMELY sensitive to what position the charger was in, if not in a specific position it would not work. A month or so later, it completely crapped out. I'd say it lasted 4 months, I rarely use my laptop so there's no reason why it should have died so easily. Contacted BestEZonlinestore, and of course, no response. This is the second BAD charger I have purchased from amazon (my original charger lasted a long time), and I may just suck it up and buy from Bestbuy instead of trusting stores like BestEZonlinestore that have zero customer service skills.

I purchased the Expert Laptop Battery thinking it was an exact replacement. However, once I installed it in the HP laptop I learned that it doesn't exactly match the original battery. The original had a raised bar on the bottom of the battery that allowed the laptop to sit flush on a flat surface. This one lacks that raised bar and thus does not allow for a true flush fit. Other than that, it seems to be a good battery for the price, and it certainly beats having to keep the laptop plugged in all the time, as we did before. Good price, rapid shipping and an item that works are all major pluses. I would give it four stars for everything but form fit.

Not much to say really. It worked. Appearently this battery is useable by other laptops but you have to have the right bottom piece to go with it. THe only reason I say this is my bottom piece (had a foot for the laptop) came unassembled from the battery. It was easy to put on, just make sure you have the right orientation for the battery and snap it on. I tried to see if it would come loose but it is on there pretty solid. Hopefully this one wil last longer than the stock battery that came from HP.

My laptop is long in the tooth, but still works well. The battery life was getting extremely short and was getting to be a nuisance (always had to use the laptop plugged in). Got the replacement battery in just a few days after ordering. I followed the directions and charged it for a full 14 hours before using the laptop. It worked great! I went from 25 minutes to about 2-1/2 hours on a charge.

Was initially very pleased, the battery had a good AHr rating and installed easily, charged fine. 40 days later and the battery will no longer charge, diagnosed to be the battery. Of course, it's a 30 day return policy, so it's basically $56 out the window.

This battery is the worst. It is made in Hong Kong, take it from my experience and those of other reviews that frequently there are defective cells. I followed the instructions and did the charge/discharge crap which reminded me of old laptop batteries. Eventually this did increase the battery life to what I was hoping for. Well my hope did not last long.

Maybe a week, if that, is what the battery was good for. It did not take long for my laptop to just not turn on with the battery in unless I had it pluged in. Now sometimes the battery says 50%, sometimes it is in the 30's... it never shows anything above 50 (rarely even gets to 50). Whenever I turn the laptop off then back on I see a different percent of battery.

The only reason I might use the battery now is to elevate my laptop while it is plugged in. If I want to move my laptop I replace the battery before I unplug it. I'm looking for a manufacturer other than Dekcell that has a similar 12-cell battery. If it is going to take 8-15 days to ship then I'm not buying it b/c it may be the same manufacturer.

I bought this battery in July, and it started out fine, running my HP HDX18 beautifully, but then I started to notice things. My laptop's computer check system began to tell me that the battery was defective and needed replaced, but I assumed it just didn't detect it right because it is a generic battery. Then it began to fail. It would quickly loose power and cause my computer to simply turn off for no reason when the battery was running on about 55% charge, like someone took it out the battery when that was definately not the case. It has issues, thats for sure, and as to save harm to my 2,000 dollar laptop, I am sticking to the HP battery that has ran fine. I would not recommend this battery.

I originally ordered one of these batteries due to the short runtime afforded by the original factory battery that was supplied with this computer. With its big 17" display, it really sucks down the low mAh original battery in about 2 1/2 hours or so.

I recieved the battery from Brilliant Store very promptly and charged it overnight as instructed and then "ran it down". It did give me almost 4 hours runtime. This was while surfing the web and listening to music on iTunes in the meanwhile. The appearance of the battery is good and it is nicely finished, it blends well with the appearance and texturing of the computer's plastic under belly.

The only disturbing aspect I have encountered here, is the fact that when I ran the computer's built-in battery check utility, it told me that this battery was bad and that it had one or more defective cells!

As a result of this, I called Brilliant Store and they quickly shipped me a replacement, which got here in record time. The trouble was, this replacement battery tested out exactly the same way!

Upon calling them again, rather irrate this time I must admit, I actually got to talk to the closest person I supposed they had to a tech guy, who told me that this was probably just a quirk in the way the HP battery check reads the battery and that there was really no problem. I can understand this, because it probably simply looks for the same specs of HP's own battery, and if it sees any thing different, it throws up a red flag.

Anyway, in the interm, I returned the first battery in the Brilliant Store's prepaid packaging, and have kept this one for further evaluation. It does have a 30 day warranty I believe. It, like the first one gives me about 4 hours of run and really doesn't add too much weight to the laptop. It also nicely elevates the back of the computer for easier typing and better cooling. Hopefully, the internal 18650 cells used in these replacement batteries are of decent quality. One thing that I am noticing that I don't like, is the fact that if the computer sits around unused whatsoever for only a couple of days, the battery level will indicate that it has dropped around 20%, that indicates to me that the internal cells are of a pretty shoddy quality I'm afraid. This, I understand, is the major issue in these 3rd party Chinese batteries. The supplied HP battery holds its charge well and will only drop by a couple of percent in over a week. Most of these 3rd party batteries are made with the absolute cheapest Chinese-made cells the manufacture can find, not the somewhat more expensive but far higher quality Japanese-made cells. Only time will tell on this aspect since the cells are sealed inside and are impossible to examine short of destroying the battery. I have emailed "DekCell" to inquire about this battery's contents and ask them some questions about it but ,as I expected, they didn't even give me the courtesy of a reply.

I really like this battery. I no longer need to prop my computer up to comfortably type. It allows plenty of airflow. I received it five days earlier than expected. Increases performance and battery operation time considerably. They contacted me in short order to confirm order. It's a great price considering the replacement price from HP or other places for the same battery that came with my computer. I have the dv7-1464. Will certainly do business again!

I probably read through every review and article on laptops out there before committing to this one so if you're a little anxious like I was, hopefully this review will be helpful to you (and I've had it for 8 months so it's not like I haven't put it to work). Pros:

The screen and keyboard are big enough to work on every day.



It starts up quickly and doesn't lag when running OneNote, Word, the internet and iTunes all at the same time.



I absolutely love the finger print scanner. At first, I thought it was silly to spend the extra $20 but this way you can store the million log ins/passwords you have without letting anyone else who might be using your computer have access to them.



So far it has only crashed once and frozen twice.



The two touch buttons on the keyboard to turn your WiFi on/off and to mute/unmute are pretty handy and save you a few extra clicks.



I don't use my laptop as a boom box, but the few times I've used the speakers the quality was above average.



It's quiet, you don't get a heavy humming ever and it also doesn't get very hot when you actually have it on your lap.



Cons:



The battery life, even on `power saver mode' is 4 hours, MAX. I only used Word, didn't have my internet on/running, music playing, any external accessories sapping power and it barely hit the 4 hour mark before dying. (This is with the regular battery, not the upgraded 12 cell.)



The touch volume controller thingy on the keyboard isn't very precise, its loud and has been activated accidentally an annoying number of times. And you can't disable it, to my knowledge.



The keyboard area is a glossy finish, so you see all the oil and skin and grime and dirt you've left on it after you're done typing. It's gross and makes the computer look dirty. This may not bother other people but it really bugs me.



The left click button on the touch pad is starting to fail (its loose and pushed down) and I haven't had it for a year. Oh and I don't "type with purpose" either.



My A/C adaptor broke even though I make sure never to smash it with books in my bag, always kept the cord wound nicely like it came and generally tried to not abuse it. That made me mad, and goes to show the quality of the material they're giving you for your money that you paid. In HP's defense, they did send me a replacement in 2 days without any hassle. But it was only the box part with the wire that goes into the laptop, and not the other half of the wiring that goes from the outlet to the box part. And they didn't tell me that so I'm happy I didn't throw my old one out expecting to get an entirely new one.

It is kinda heavy. I notice a distinct difference when it's in my bag compared to when it isn't.



All their keyboards come with a dedicated number pad. I'm good at using it so I don't mind, but I don't know how many people really need or want it. Meh.



Conclusion:

It's a decent laptop for the price. I hemmed and hawed and worried about the difference between getting a 2.10 and 2.26 Ghz processor or whether to go with an Intel or AMD chip. But unless you go straight to the top of the line, you're not really going to notice any difference. These days everyone should have an external hard drive to store their beloved music/movies/photos on anyway. If you see this laptop at a good price, buy it and I don't think you'll regret it.

its my first laptop, outstanding performance (IE; Start up, overall speed of programs loading, internet speed, features), I am using it more than my desktop. HP is the way to go, I would not dare buy anything but at this point, windows XP is whats on my desk top( its a dinosaur compared to windows 7)I cant even up grade to windows 7 on my desk top from XP, to many scary messages come up because its 32 bit. The Hp get 5 and 1/2 stars

I am very satisfied with the computer. Buyers should be aware of Windows 7 however if they also use a PDA. Palm does not have a USB hotsync driver as of yet. Bluetooth hotsync does work with a little work. I have recommended this particular model to several of my friends. The extended battery life is a definate advantage. Price could have been a little lower but it was well worth the purchase.

I had an earlier version of the Pavilion, which died at age 2 (about normal)...but not before it became a VERY heated and temperamental beast. To be honest, I was not so much excited about purchasing the dv6-1350us as relieved to have another laptop on the way asap - it was in the right price range for decent specs. I've had it for about one month and am hoping it does not fall prey to the over-heating problems of the first Pavilion - I had to use a 12 cell battery to lift it off of the surface so it didn't get too hot to touch! - and so far this one hasn't gotten even the tiniest bit warm, even without the use of the 12 cell battery it came with (nice perk) and through a full day's usage.



Usage: at any given moment, I have a number of generic programs running - usually google chrome, IE, skype, some office 2007 programs - excel, word, powerpoint, picture viewer, and a few dialogue box windows, and so far this new one has had no problems dealing with it. Internet Explorer is slow, but that's why I use Chrome! In terms of start-up time, it is still slower than a macbook but I like that microsoft has finally included an *almost* instantaneous sleep/wake function similar to that of apple. The lack of a desktop button on the taskbar with windows 7 was annoying, but can be easily remedied following any online instructional manuals about how to create a new one. Also annoying is the multitude of crappy pre-loaded programs...not all of which have been removed as I'm not sure about what else they relate to program-wise! However, having a numeric keyboard on a laptop is great.



Aesthetics: the screen is nice, I'm happy that the aggravatingly easy-to-touch quicklaunch buttons are gone (with the exception of volume, which is handy), allowing you to clean/touch the computer without turning it on and starting quickplay. That being said, you cannot touch the computer without needing to clean it - the glossy surface is easily marked up. However, the laptop itself is pretty, if a bit heavy, but I'm not travelling much with it at the moment.



Sum: After one month's usage, I am happy with, but not ecstatic about, the dv6-1350us Pavilion. I guess I am jaded with Microsoft as a platform more so than it being a problem with HP laptops. This Pavilion is a workhorse for the average home user, and has so far been able to fulfill all of my needs.
