About 2 weeks after I received the battery I re-calibrated the battery and ran the HP battery check with this battery installed. It said that one or more cells were bad.
I ran the Intel RightMark CPU utility, which among other things interrogates the smart battery for info about its state of charge etc.
It said that that current battery capacity was 87124 mWh.
The battery's full design capacity is 95040 mWh.
The current capacity is 91.7%, a rather large drop from it's full rated capacity.
In any case it still has enough capacity to run my HP laptop (G70) for about 5 hours.

You will not get this battery like they said, they will ship the 8800 without saying anything to you.

This Battery is heavy, capacity is about 3 hours on my HP DV5.
Problem is, I have to remove and reinstall the battery 5 to 10 times to get the computer to reckognize the battery is in and start charging.
Otherwise it sits there and says "plugged in, not charging" or "battery not installed"
I should have known the price was too low.
The power cord I bought online is also faulty and must be wiggled around to work fairly often.
Never again will I buy electronics online. What a disaster. I think the good reviews are written by the retailers...
Caveat Emptor I guess.

After receiving my first battery, I put it through the charge-dischage-charge cycles recommended by the supplier. Following that I ran HP's Battery Test Utility. It reported that the battery had a bad cell. A discharge cycle for the battery was about 4 hours, less than I was expecting from other reports. I contacted the supplier about the problem and they immediately responded by sending out a replacement battery and the means to return the bad unit.
Upon receiving the second battery, I put it through the same routine as the first one that I received. I am sorry to report, the results were exactly the same. HP's Battery Test Utility reported that this battery also has a bad cell. At this point, I am waiting to hear from the supplier. I intent to return the second cell for a refund under their return policy.
While I am not certain that HP's utility is providing a true picture of the battery condition, I also have no information that dispites the accuracy of that software. In this case, I will spend the extra funds and get the 12 cell HP replacement battery. I don't want to spend almost a $100 for a battery that is possibly defective.
